Introduction
Hi, I’m Lee Stevens from ezecurtains.co.uk, and I want to show you how easy it is to fit a straight corded track fixed to the wall above your window.
Fitting the Brackets
The brackets are pre-fitted above the window, spaced approximately every 40 cm. On each end, the bracket is set about 5 cm in from the track end. Each bracket has fixing holes at the top and bottom. We supply all plugs and screws — the only tool you’ll need is a 6 mm masonry drill bit.
The brackets also come with neat covers that hide the fixings once in place. To fit the brackets, place them at around a 45° angle, twist into position, then straighten and push back until they lock securely.
Clipping in the Track
Now clip the track into the brackets. Simply push the track back onto the plastic fittings and then click into place at the front. Make sure the overhang is even at both ends. You’ll hear a satisfying click as the track locks into each bracket.
Finally, tighten the small screw underneath each bracket. This secures the track so it can’t fall out.
Installing the Cord Tensioner
Next, we need to secure the cord. By law, the cord loop must be at least 150 cm above the floor. To meet this, we fit a cord tensioner to the wall below the track.
The tensioner has a small brake at the front that opens, allowing the cord loop to slot onto the pulley wheel. It’s also spring-loaded. Simply pull the loop through and clip it into place. Then, present the tensioner to the wall, pencil mark the fixing holes, and drill.
In this demo we’re screwing into timber, but in most cases you’ll need 6 mm masonry drill holes, wall plugs, and screws to fix securely.
Once fitted, pull the cord down, pop it back into the tensioner, and the system is ready to use.
