Step-by-Step: Fitting a Regular Wall-Fix Track
1) Decide the track height and position
Start by deciding how high the track needs to sit above the window. This is usually just above the window frame so the curtains hang neatly without brushing the wall or sill.
Use a pencil and spirit level to mark a straight guide line along the wall. This will help keep the track level as you fit the brackets.
2) Position the wall brackets
Offer the track up to the wall and mark through the fixing holes in the brackets. Regular tracks use sturdy wall brackets, so accurate marking helps everything fit neatly and evenly.
Space the brackets evenly along the length of the track to give good support once the curtains are hung.
3) Drill and fix the brackets
Drill the fixing holes using the correct drill bit for your wall type, insert the wall plugs, and fix the brackets securely to the wall.
If one fixing doesn’t feel as solid as you’d like, it’s usually a quick fix — adjust slightly, re-drill if needed, and use the most suitable plug for that section of wall.
4) Clip the track into the brackets
Once the brackets are fitted, the track simply clips into place. You should feel it locate firmly into each bracket as you work along the track.
Check that the track sits level and straight before moving on.
5) Final checks before hanging curtains
Give the track a gentle pull along its length to make sure everything feels secure and evenly supported.
Once you’re happy, you’re ready to hang your curtains.
