Ceiling Mounted Bay Window Curtain Track in an Awkward Bay

“A ceiling mounted bay window curtain track for awkward bays can be a great solution.”

Got an awkward-shaped bay with little or no wall space? A ceiling-mounted, made-to-measure track is often the neatest solution. Here’s how it works, with a real customer example.

Yes — even if your bay is unusual in shape, a ceiling-mounted track can give you a smooth, professional finish. We bend the track to match your exact bay so it arrives ready to fit, with brackets, gliders, and end stops included.

The Challenge

This bay had coving on the ceiling all the way in and out of the bay. A ceiling-mounted option was the only way to make full-length curtains possible.

Not sure what coving is then take a look here for the full explanation.

Our Recommended Solution

  • The track was shaped to follow the front lip of the windowsill inside the bay.
  • On the returns (where the track comes out of the bay onto the wall), it sat just in front of the coving.
  • By bending the track exactly to fit, even the sharp angles were neatly followed.
  • Result: curtains hung properly and glided smoothly around the bay.

Tip: If your curtains are heavy (velvet, chenille, or lined blackout), our slimline bay track with roller gliders is the best choice.

Extra Advice for Awkward Bays

  • Use return on your bay track so your curtains can wrap back neatly to the wall on each side of the bay.
  • Measure along the front lip of the sill, then note how far the coving projects from the wall.
  • Always allow at least 15cm on the returns so brackets can sit securely.
