Introduction
Hi, I’m Lee Stevens from ezecurtains.co.uk, and I want to show you how simple it is to fit our Slimline track to a ceiling on a straight window. Let’s get started.
Preparing the Track and Marking the Ceiling
When your track arrives, simply unpack it — there’s no assembly required. Before fitting, mark the location on the ceiling. I’ve placed pencil marks: one on each side of the window and one in the middle.
This window sill projects about 8cm from the wall, so I marked 10cm out from the wall. The pencil marks will line up with the back edge of the track to give the correct position.
Fixing the Track to the Ceiling
Hold the track up to the pencil line and start driving the screws directly into the ceiling. At this stage, don’t worry too much about how secure they are — just get the track into place.
As you go along, some screws may hit timber (great for a solid fixing) while others may not. Continue this process along the full length of the track.
Reinforcing Weak Fixings
If a screw fixing doesn’t feel secure, remove the screw and slide the bracket slightly away from the hole. Drill a fresh hole using a 6mm masonry drill bit, then insert one of the supplied plugs.
Re-fit the screw into the plug — this will give you a really secure fixing. Repeat this for any brackets that only bite into plasterboard or don’t feel solid enough.
Finishing Touches
Once the track is secure, clip on the supplied plastic covers to tidy up the brackets and give a neat finish.
Final Result
Here’s the Slimline track fitted to the ceiling. The gliders move smoothly backwards and forwards, giving you great working curtains on your window.
As you can see, it’s a very straightforward process. Hopefully that was useful, and thank you very much for watching.
Quick Steps – Fitting a Slimline Ceiling Track
- Unpack your Slimline track – no assembly required.
- Mark the ceiling with pencil lines (about 10cm out from the wall, at each side and in the middle).
- Hold the track up to the pencil line and drive in the screws.
- Check each fixing – if weak, drill a 6mm hole, insert a wall plug, and re-fit the screw securely.
- Clip the plastic covers over the brackets for a tidy finish.
- Enjoy smooth-running gliders and perfectly working curtains.
Ceiling or wall fix — your choice
Fit It Your Way
Ceiling fit (most discreet): keeps the top light gap tight and the track visually “quiet”.
Wall fit (choose your projection): different bracket depths help clear sills, handles or radiators so the curtains hang perfectly.
