Introduction
Hi, I’m Lee Stevens from ezecurtains.co.uk, and today I want to show you how to fit one of our straight curtain tracks. In this example, we’ll be fitting the track directly into the ceiling. These tracks are simple to install — once it arrives, just unpack it and it’s ready to go straight up.
Measuring for Clearance
On this window, the sill projects out by about 8 cm. To make sure the curtains clear the sill, I’ve made pencil marks at 10 cm out from the wall. These marks show where the back of the track should line up. I’ve put three little pencil marks across the ceiling ready for fixing.
Fixing the Track
I’ve lined the track up against the pencil marks so the back edge sits neatly on the line. From here, it’s simply a case of driving the screws through the track and into the ceiling.
Some screws will go into plasterboard, which won’t be a strong fixing, while others might hit timber joists — which is ideal. If you hit plasterboard, don’t worry; we’ll sort that in the next step.
Using Plugs for Extra Strength
If you find a screw isn’t secure, remove it and slide the track along slightly to reveal the hole. Use a 6 mm masonry drill bit to drill into the ceiling and insert one of the supplied plugs. Then slide the track back into position and drive the screw firmly into the plug.
This gives a really solid fixing that will hold securely under normal use. Repeat this wherever you’re not confident about the fixing strength.
Finishing Up
Now the track is fully fixed and secure. We’ve plugged the weaker points and ensured the track hugs the ceiling with no gaps. The gliders run smoothly from side to side, giving you perfectly working curtains.
I hope you’ve found this helpful — thanks very much for watching.
📏 Measuring & Ordering
Don’t worry if measuring feels daunting — we make it simple.
Start by measuring the width of your window. Then add extra space on each side (known as stack back) so your curtains can hang neatly off the window when open.
As a guide:
- For smaller windows, allow around 15cm each side.
- For larger windows, you may need up to 50cm each side.
- The wider the window, the more space you should allow for the curtain stacks.
Your total width = window width + stack back both sides. That’s the size you’ll use when ordering.
If you’re unsure how much space to allow, just ask — we’re always happy to help.
Once we’ve got your measurements, we’ll make your Slimline Wave Track to size and dispatch it ready to fit.
🎬 Fitting Help
We recommend ceiling fitting for this track, but wall brackets are available if that’s your preference. Either way, the track arrives ready to install, and we provide full fitting videos so you can follow along step by step.
