How Difficult Is It to Fit a Bay Window Curtain Track?
If you’re looking at a made-to-measure bay window curtain track and wondering whether you’ll actually be able to fit it yourself, you’re definitely not alone.
A bay track can look quite complicated when you first see one. But the important thing to remember is that with a made-to-measure track, most of the difficult work has already been done before it arrives.
You don’t have to create the bends, work out the bay shape or cut the track to the correct size. We do all of that for you.
Your Bay Track Arrives Ready to Fit
When your made-to-measure bay track arrives, it has already been:
- Cut to the correct size
- Bent to the shape of your bay
- Made with the bends in the correct positions
- Fitted with the required track components
So when it comes to installation, you’re not starting with a straight length of curtain track that still needs to be turned into a bay track.
You open the box, remove the track, and the fitting can begin.

Do I Need to Be Good at DIY?
You don’t need to be a curtain track specialist.
If you’re reasonably comfortable using a drill and carrying out normal household DIY jobs, fitting a made-to-measure bay track should usually be within your capabilities.
With larger bay tracks, having a second person available can make things easier simply because they can support the other end of the track while you’re positioning and fixing it.
But I’d always suggest watching the fitting video first rather than taking my word for it. You know your own DIY ability better than anyone.
Why a Made-to-Measure Track Is Different to a DIY Bay Track
This is one of the biggest differences between a made-to-measure bay track and a DIY bay track.
With a DIY system, the track normally starts as a straight profile. Before it can be fitted, someone still has to work out where the bends go, create the bay shape, cut the track to size and add the required components.
With our made-to-measure bay tracks, that work has already been completed before the track reaches you.
That means fitting is mainly about positioning the brackets correctly and installing the finished track — rather than trying to manufacture the bay shape while you’re standing in the room.
What If I Watch the Video and Still Don’t Want to Fit It?
That’s absolutely fine.
Not everyone enjoys DIY, has the time to do it, or is in a position to safely use a drill and steps or ladders.
You don’t need a specialist EZECurtains installer. A competent local handyman, curtain fitter or similar tradesperson should normally be able to fit a made-to-measure track for you.
If you’re planning to have someone else fit your track, I’d recommend showing them the fitting video before booking the job so they can see exactly what’s involved.
