Hi, can you advise on the best rail shape for my bow windows, we have two windows the same.
I'm thinking that a curved rail might be best as the radiator is curved the windows aren't. The windows are being replaced in due course. Would side returns be a good idea to let more light in? We intend to have floor to ceiling curtains. Thanks
Hi Andrew
You are right in thinking that curved tracks would look a lot nicer on these bays rather than angular tracks.
I would also take them out of the bay by approximately 20cm onto the return walls on each side. Your curtains will hang so much better than trying to hang right on the edges of the bay.
When it comes to ordering your bay tracks. You would need to select option 5 on the question asking where your track is fixing to "Ceiling (with ceiling fix returns out of bay).
You then would need to select the "Curved 5 sided bay track with 6 bends" option from the bending service (with returns) drop-down menu.
Then select any other options you would like and submit your order. After doing this you will receive an email with a link taking you to the measuring page on the website for your bay shape.
You will measure all the straight sides of the bay but your track will be made curved. You will be measuring the front edges of your window sill. Then the little wall on each side. I have added your photo with a few dotted lines showing the measuring position.
In the "Additional info" box lower down on the page. You will need to let me know how far the radiator sticks out in front of the window sill. I can then draw this onto the template. Then your track will fit to follow the curved front edge of the radiator within the bay.
This will allow your floor length curtains to hang freely.
I hope this helps you get started with this project. However, if you have any further questions then please feel free to ask.
all the best, Lee
