Introduction to Ezecurtains

Hi. I'm Lee Stevens from ezecurtains.co.uk

Overview of Curtain Track Options

And I want to talk to you about our slimline tracks, straight tracks, or bay tracks. And we've got an option which is "brakes" that you can add to your order. So what are brakes and what do they do? So let's go and have a quick look.

Understanding Curtain Gliders

Okay. I've unhooked the first couple of hooks on the curtain just to get it out of the way, and we've got the first glider here now with the curtain draw rod in. You can order these when you're ordering your track should you want them. And we use them for opening and closing the curtains. I'm using them pretty much on all the curtains that we sell on this website and we fit ourselves.

Explaining the Brake Mechanism

Right. Let's get back to the brake. We've got the brake here which effectively is a glider and it's got a springy bit on the top that creates the brake. This goes and sits inside the glider channel and rubs along the top and creates a little bit of friction but not so much friction that it makes it difficult opening and closing your curtains.

Installation of Brake Gliders

Now this glider, if we look or the brake glider, we look side on, we've got little grooves that fit into the channel. And also if I hold it this way, you can see that it's offset. So there's a front and a back. And this side here is the front we want facing forwards on the track. So let's go and have a look at how simple it is to get this in position on your track now. And it's going to be the leading glider on each side of your track.

Positioning the Glider Channel

Okay. Just reinforcing that we want the glider channel to be facing to the front of the track and not off this side here. That's the back of the track. So we get the little springy bit inside the glider channel.

Securing the Brake Glider

We push the back groove into the track so it's at an angle now and we use our finger to swing it and pop it forward. Now that brake glider is in position.

Impact on Curtain Functionality

Now let's have a quick look at how it affects the flowing of the curtains.

Demonstrating Curtain Operation

Right. So we got the curtain hooked back in now, and we've got the leading glider, which is the brake glider hooks in and if we push the curtains back, they stay exactly where you want them.

Benefits of Using Brake Gliders

We open them around here, they stop exactly where we leave them. So even though it's only a little bit of friction, it doesn't cause any problems on the opening and closing your curtains, but can solve some annoying problems of the curtain creeping open after you've put it back in the open position.

Ordering Options for Brake Gliders

So again, you can order these with your curtain track or you can order them as a separate item if you decide that you want them afterwards.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

So, I hope that was useful.
