Do You Have a Deep or Shallow Window Sill?

This matters because your sill depth decides how your curtains can hang inside the bay.

  • If your sill is shallow (or none at all) → you can hang floor-length curtains in front of the sill.
  • If your sill is deep → your curtains usually need to finish at the sill top, otherwise the sill will push the fabric out.

👉 Pick your setup below to jump to the right section:

Floor-Length Curtains (Shallow/No Sill)

If your bay has a slim sill or none at all, your track can be wall fixed or frame fixed neatly above the windows.

  • Curtains will hang down past the sill (if there is one), right to the floor.
  • We’ll supply the correct bracket projection to clear any small sill.
  • When open, curtains stack on the bay’s small side walls, sometimes overlapping the edge of the glass.

In the order form, select “Curved 5-Sided Bay with 6 Bends” for this setup. Don’t choose the “5 sided bay window curtain track”. As it’s a different shape.

Sill Length Curved 5 sided bay (Deep Sill)

Curved Bay Curtain Track Ceiling Fixed Sill Length

If your bay has a wide/deep sill, it leaves no room for floor-length curtains to hang in front — the sill will push them out. In this case:

  • The track sits close to the window.
  • Curtains finish neatly at the sill top, leaving the sill space in front when closed.
  • When open, curtains stack back onto the bay’s small side walls, often encroaching slightly on the glass.

On the order form, choose “Curved 5-Sided Bay with 6 Bends” under sill-length curtains. Don’t choose the “curved bay curtain track wall fixed” options.

Neither of these options are suitable for a true “curved bay track inside bay”. They need to have flat sections with shallow bends between each window. This allows the wall/frame brackets to connect properly to the track.

Tools & Fixings

We supply all the right screws and plugs for your bay situation.
You’ll just need a 6mm masonry drill bit for the holes — I personally recommend Erbauer 6mm bits from Screwfix as a reliable, good-value option.

Why a floor-length wall fixed bay curtain track?

Wall fixing is a solid choice for this type of bay:

  • Keeps the track snug to the wall for a neat finish.
  • Lets your curtains drop cleanly to thesill or floor without twisting.
  • Strong enough to hold heavy, lined curtains securely.

After nearly 30 years of fitting, I’ve never seen a properly wall-fixed track let anyone down.

How We Make It Work

Ordering is straightforward — and we make sure it’s stress-free from start to finish:

  1. Send us your photos and measurements. We’ll double-check everything before bending your track.
  2. We draw your bay in our workshop. Every side and curve is plotted so the fit is exact.
  3. Your track is rolled and bent to match. Complex bays are no problem — and you never pay extra per bend.
  4. We pack and ship it ready to fit. Brackets, screws, and fixings are included, all in eco-friendly recyclable packaging.

Every track comes with our 10-year guarantee, and if it doesn’t fit, we’ll remake it free of charge — even if it was mis-measured.

Most customers find the process far easier than they expect — and the end result looks like the track was designed into their bay from day one.

Customer Question

“I love my new curved bay, but I’m worried about how the curtains will fit. Can the wall really take the weight? And how do you shape the track at the ends?”
— Gill, Yorkshire

Lee’s Advice

After nearly 30 years of fitting, I can reassure you that in any domestic situation, any wall fixed bay window curtain track on this website is strong enough for heavy, lined curtains. We usually recommend a gentle curve through the bay, with sharper bends only on the internal bay returns at each end.
