What Is a 3 Sided Bay Window?

A 3 sided bay window normally has one centre window and two side windows. There is often a short section of wall at each outside edge of the bay.

In simple terms, the curtain track runs across all three sides and has two bends.

The side windows may slope away from the centre, creating what we call a splay bay. Alternatively, they may meet the centre at approximately 90 degrees, creating what is often called a square bay.

One of the biggest advantages of choosing a made-to-measure track is that we manufacture both bends in the correct positions.

You do not have to bend the track yourself and then try to work out whether each bend is in exactly the right place.

The finished track arrives already shaped to follow the measurements of your individual bay window.

This makes fitting much simpler because the track is already the correct overall shape before you lift it into position.

Not every 3 sided bay has the same angles.

A splay bay may have gentle angled sides, while a square bay normally has much tighter 90-degree corners.

We make each bend to suit the shape of your bay rather than supplying a standard track that you have to force into position.

This gives the gliders a smoother route around the bends and helps your curtains open and close more easily.

Easier and Faster to Fit Than a DIY Bay Track

With many DIY bay track kits, you have to cut the track to length, form both bends yourself and repeatedly hold it up to the bay to check the shape.

It is very easy for one bend to end up in the wrong place or at the wrong angle. Even a small error can make the track difficult to fit neatly.

Our track arrives with the main shaping already completed. You simply position the brackets, fit the prepared track and make any small final adjustments explained in the fitting instructions.

This saves time and removes one of the most difficult parts of fitting a bay window curtain track.

Can a 3 Sided Bay Track Be Ceiling or Wall Fitted?

Yes. We can supply a 3 sided bay window curtain track for either ceiling or wall fixing using the appropriate brackets.

For most bay windows, ceiling fixing is our preferred option because it gives more freedom to position the track correctly and usually allows the curtains to hang and operate more smoothly.

Wall fixing may be needed where deep coving, a beam or another obstruction prevents the track being fixed to the ceiling.

Are There Other Track Options for a 3 Sided Bay?

The Regular Bay Track is the one we recommend for most standard hand-drawn curtains, but other options are available where you need a different appearance or method of operation.

We make your track to the measurements and shape of your individual bay window. This includes the length of all three sections and the position and angle of both bends.

You only pay for the overall track length. We do not add an extra charge for the two bends.
