Curved Bay Curtain Track Ceiling Fixed Sill Length Curtains Inside the Bay
If you’ve got a curved bay window with little or no wall space above the glass, and you want sill-length curtains that sit neatly within the bay, the best solution is a ceiling-fixed track. It follows the curve of your bay exactly, so your curtains glide smoothly and hang just above the sill — without being pushed forward awkwardly by the window ledge.

Why Ceiling Fixing Is the Best Option for Curved Bays
Most curved bays have little or no wall space above the windows, so ceiling fixing is the neatest and most practical solution:
- The track fits flush to the ceiling with no bulky battens.
- Curtains hang vertically inside the bay, clear of the sill.
- Our metal tracks are strong enough to hold even lined curtains securely in place.
Worried about your ceiling strength? Don’t be. We supply plugs and screws that cover 95% of situations. For the rare cases where you need more security, simple toggle fixings from Screwfix or any DIY store do the job perfectly.
So if you’ve been worrying that your ceiling won’t be strong enough — don’t.
We supply plugs and screws that work in 95% of situations. For the rare occasions when you need something more secure,
these toggle fixings
are a very reliable solution. They’re easily available from Screwfix and other DIY stores, so you won’t have any trouble getting hold of them.
Gentle Curves Not Sharp Bends
When making a custom curved bay track, sharp angles don’t look good and don’t work well for curtains.
Instead, we use a rolling bend to create smooth curves inside your bay. This makes the track more attractive and ensures your curtains glide without snagging.
You might notice angles marked on your measuring template — but the finished track will always be curved for the smoothest result.
Neat Finishing Without Returns
With sill-length curtains inside the bay, you usually don’t need returns that extend out of the bay. Instead, the track ends stop neatly at the bay sides.
- Curtains finish flush with the side walls.
- No bulky overlaps or unnecessary fittings.
- A clean, simple look that’s perfect for sill-height curtains.
If you prefer, we can curve the very ends back slightly towards the bay walls to close off any tiny side gaps. Just let us know when ordering.
How We Make It Work
Ordering is straightforward:
- Send us your photos and measurements.
- We draw out a template of your bay in our workshop.
- Your track is bent to match perfectly using gentle rolling curves.
- It arrives ready to fit, with all brackets and fixings included.
The process is easier than most people expect, and the result is a track that looks like it was designed into your bay from the start.
Customer Question
“I love my new curved bay, but I’m worried about how the curtains will fit. Can the ceiling really hold them? And how do you shape the track at the ends?”
— Gill, Yorkshire
Lee’s Advice
Ceiling fixing is the best option for this type of bay. After nearly 30 years of fitting tracks, I can reassure you that the ceiling will be more than strong enough. We also recommend a gentle curve within the bay for a neater finish, with sharper bends only on the returns at each end.
Curved Bay Window Track Position Template

This “Top View” of the bay shows how the custom made curtain track allows for the short curtains to hang down to the top of the sill. While also (returning) curving out of the bay on the side walls. So the curtains when open can hang clear of all the windows giving maximum light into the room.
